Description: The first coffee was planted in Kona by missionary Samuel Ruggles in 1828. Coffee and Kona were a perfect match with Kona’s rich volcanic soil, hard-working family farmers and perfect climate conditions. For nearly 200 years much has been celebrated, discussed and enjoyed over a cup of Kona’s world famous coffee! Kona coffee will be taking center stage at the 47th Annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival November 3-12, 2017 We’ll be sharing stories with Valerie Corcoran, President of the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, and we’ll be talking about the unique culture and diversity of Hawaii and Kona’s incredible coffee heritage.
